Ownership of Information
The Foundation is the sole owner of the information collected on this website. We do not sell, share, or rent this information to others. We collect information from our users at several different points on our website.
 
Registration and Contact Information
Users are asked to become members by completing our registration form. The form requests contact information, i.e., address, telephone, Fax and E-mail. Registration makes it possible for users to receive our newsletter and enjoy certain features of our site. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below.
 
Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track users movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
 
Cookies
Our site uses 'cookies'. A cookie is a piece of datum stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie enables us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance our website. Cookies are in no way linked to any personally identifiable information. If a user rejects the cookie, he or she still is free to use our site. The only drawback is a user may be limited in interacting with the site for certain purposes.
 
Donations 
The Foundation processes donations through a third party service. This relationship is 100% confidential and secure. A completed donation is accepted by the third party's server and authorized. After that, credit card information is destroyed and a finalized report is sent to the Foundation. No information other than that needed to diagnose problems with the transaction server is retained by the third party. In addition, the third party does not resell, retransmit, or retain any information about transactions or personal contact information for donors it processes on behalf of the Foundation.
 
Online Surveys
We may implement online surveys as the Foundation grows. Our online surveys ask visitors for contact information. We use this contact data to send the user information about the Foundation and its activities. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Other data collected by online surveys are used to educate us about the concerns of our supporters and visitors concerning our mission. This information is not shared with other organizations. The Foundation may operate E-mail discussions, and utilize contact lists to reach its visitors who request such information. Such services may be run both by the Foundation and contracted vendors. E-mail addresses, whether housed on our servers or those of a third-party contractor, are never shared with any other organization and users may opt out of participating or receiving E-mail information from us at any time. Instructions are contained within each E-mail sent as well as on the help page of our website.
 
Sharing
We may partner with third parties to provide specific services. When a user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are contractually prohibited from using personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
 
We may occasionally share our contributor mailing lists with carefully selected organizations with missions we believe may be of interest to our donors. Our ability to share our members’ names with other charities helps us build our supporter base and expand our programs in a cost-effective way. If you prefer that we do not share your contact information, please let us know by following the instructions in the opt-out procedures below.
 
Tell-A-Friend
If a user elects to use our electronic mail referral service to inform a friend about the Foundation and our website, we collect the friend’s name and E-mail address. We then automatically send the friend an E-mail and invitation to visit our site. The Foundation stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this introductory E-mail. The friend can contact the Foundation through our "Contact Us" form to request removal of this information from our database, and we comply with all such requests.
 
Security
Our website has security features to protect against loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. This includes a firewall and 24-hour monitoring of site activities by our hosting service provider, as well as 128-bit SSL encryption (where allowed by law) on all transaction-oriented operations between donors and the Foundation via our transaction service provider.
 
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information offline. All user information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need access to the information to perform a specific job (for example, our database administrator) are granted access to any personally identifiable information. Any time new policies are added, our employees are reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what is required to ensure information about our members is protected. Servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Occasionally, the Foundation’s website may include links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites.
 
Correction/Updating Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes, or if a user no longer desires to be linked to us, the user can correct, update or remove personal data via the member information page or by contacting us via our “Contact Us” form.
 
Choice/Opt-Out
Our website provides users the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications from us. The following options are available for removing information from our database: (i) the user can unsubscribe or change E-mail preferences by following the link at the bottom of any E-mail from us; or (ii) users can notify us through the form on our “Contact Us” page to be removed from our E-mail list or contributor mailing list.
